John Corkrean is a 1974 graduate of West Virginia University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. He has resided in
Spencer since 1978 at which time he began working at Staats Pharmacy. John became President/Owner of Staats Pharmacy in 1989.
Service to our community is a big part of John's life. In 1996 John was recognized for his community involvement by being named West Virginia's recipient of the Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories Bowl of Hygeia Award -- one of the pharmacy profession's most prestigious awards. Established in 1958, the award is presented for outstanding community service by pharmacists in the various states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 10 Canadian provinces. |
John is an Adjunct Assistant Professor/Preceptor for the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Field Professor for the
West Virginia
Rural Health Education Partnership program. Pharmacy students receive clinical and practical instruction during their clinical rotations with
John at Staats Pharmacy. This program is intended to encourage students to
practice in rural areas.

John is married to Marcia (Sattiaux) Corkrean who is a teacher at Spencer Middle School. They have two children, Andrew,
27, who is employed by SAE Consulting Engineers in Morgantown and married Kenly
Morrison in 2005, and Aimee, 23, who is employed as a special education
teacher at Academy Primary Center in Buckhannon.
